The award-winning Fundy Sea Shanty Festival returns to Fundy-St. Martins for its fifth year, filling the seaside village with three days of maritime music, storytelling, food, workshops and plenty of opportunities to belt out a chorus.

This year’s featured performers include Heather Rankin, France’s Les Gabiers d’Aquilon and Ottawa’s Bytown Sea Shanty Collective, with Nick Mercuri and Livin The Dream popping up throughout the weekend. Festivalgoers can join shanty singalongs, learn Irish céilí dancing, try decorative knot tying or sea glass jewellery making, explore maritime history and catch presentations from storytellers and historians.

The weekend begins Friday with seafood chowder and song at The Caves Restaurant, a rum tasting and pub night at the Royal Canadian Legion, plus a ghostly graveyard walk with Saint John storyteller David Goss. Saturday and Sunday bring workshops, tastings, presentations and family activities at venues throughout the village, including St. Martins Harbour Park, the Quaco Museum, the community centre and the Legion.

The Harbour Bazaar will also showcase regional food and craft vendors against one of the province’s finest coastal backdrops. Most activities require advance registration due to limited space, with admission and registration details available through the festival’s ticketing system.
