The Saint John String Quartet invites you to listen with your eyes, too. Watch This!, part of Symphony New Brunswick’s Virtuoso Series, brings four works to the Port Saint John Gallery at the Saint John Arts Centre on Sunday, October 4, at 2 PM.

The program moves from the theatrical chase of Jörg Widmann’s String Quartet No. 3, Hunt to the wit and lively conversation of Haydn’s String Quartet in B minor. Pamela Z’s Attention adds voices, samples and multimedia to the mix.

The Saint John performance also features Tether: New Brunswick Resonance, a new collaboration by New Brunswick composer Emily Kennedy, visual artist Graeme Patterson and writer Gemma Marr. Performed live by the quartet, it combines music, textile-based stop-motion animation and storytelling. Kennedy’s score follows the swell and retreat of the Bay of Fundy’s tides, while the animation and writing explore our ties to the province’s landscapes, seascapes and one another.
